<p>β-Lactam compounds represented by general formula (I), wherein R?1 and R2¿ are unified to form an oxygen atom or, when one of them represents a hydrogen atom, the other represents a hydroxy group or a protected hydroxy group, R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a protective group for a hydroxy group, and R4 represents a hydrogen atom or a protective group for an amino group and a process for their preparation. The compounds are useful as starting materials for synthesizing carbapenem antibiotics.</p> |
