PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a casting by branching and disposing a discharge pipe having a valve mechanism to a pouring pipe and discharging the slag of a molten metal surface from the discharge pipe in the initial period of pouring. CONSTITUTION:The inclined discharge pipe 12 is provided to the pouring pipe 3 to be immersed into a molten metal 9 by branching the same from the mid- way of the pouring pipe. A stop valve 13 as a valve mechanism is disposed to the discharge pipe. The molten metal 9 rises in the pouring pipe 3 when the inside of a vessel 1 is pressurized by opening the valve 13 of the discharge pipe 12. The slag of the molten metal surface is discharged from the discharge pipe 12 when the molten metal surface arrives at the position of the discharge pipe 12. The molten metal 9 having no existing slag is poured, upon closing of the valve 13, through a sprue 10 into a cavity 8 and is solidified. Since the molten metal 9 without contg. the slag is cast into a casting mold 6 according to the above-mentioned method, the quality of the casting is improved.
