In an emergency telephone system with an emergency telephone set and a dialling device, the dialling device (8) is equipped with a time delay device (9). Furthermore, the control push-button (3) has a double contact (15, 16, 17). A single telephone number can be entered into the dialling device (8). The emergency telephone set (1) can be connected in series with the dialling device and the TT circuit, e.g. via the detachable plug (22, 23). Direct human voice contact can thereby be made available to a person requiring emergency assistance and thus a facility for speaking directly to an external person, with no possibility of misuse in the call routing. <IMAGE>
