PURPOSE:To compress image data and to effectively use a memory part by mating the count value of a blank part in image data with a blank code and storing and processing and displaying as an original successive blank at the time of reading. CONSTITUTION:A memory part 20 writes the image data address controlled by an address control part 16 and fed to a processing RAM18, reads the image data and outputs the data to the RAM18. A display data processing part 17 has a blank counter 17a therein, compresses the image data between the RAM18 and a display buffer and extends the compressed image data according to a control command from a control part 13 and transmits the control command to a display pointer control part 21. The display buffer 19 has bit memories of the same number as the number of dots with a prescribed corresponding relation to the dot matrix of a display part 22.
