The invention relates to a process for desalting aqueous solutions by separation into a salt-depleted product stream and a salt-enriched concentrate stream using electrodialysis, the solution to be desalted being separated in an electrodialysis station into a product stream and a concentrate stream and the concentrate stream being subjected to a separation process, the concentrate being circulated according to the invention through (a) separation apparatus(es) and, as a result, the portions which can be separated off by the separation process(es) being removed from the concentrate and the circulated concentrate being highly enriched in constituents which can not be separated off by the separation process(es), and the invention relates to an apparatus for carrying out the process and use thereof.
