A case (1) adapted to be buried in the ground contains an auxiliary charge (14) for removal of the earthly layer overlying it. A main charge sets off the mine, and a detonator (9) is adapted to be actuated by the device and to prime the main and auxiliary charges. A container (15) is included for the auxiliary auxiliary charge (14) and it encircles the detonator (9) loosely. A partition wall (18) separates the detonator (9) from the main charge, the container (15) and partition wall (18) and is movable relative to the detonator. A drive mechanism (19) is operative to cause the container, partition wall, and detonator to perform relative movements between a position where the container and partition wall segregate and protect the detonator and a second position where the pyrotechnic mine-firing chain is set aligned. The drive mechanism (19) comprises a solenoid (24), a rod (25) adapted to swing reciprocatingly under an impulse from the solenoid (24), and drive elements (21,22,23,27) engaged with the rod (25). The solenoid (24) is powered using a storage circuit (49) substantially in the form of a capacitor and a battery (43) connected to the circuit (49). |
