PURPOSE:To provide items required for the formation of a document corresponding to its purpose by inputting the purpose of the document to be formed at the time of formation of the document by a Japanese word processor. CONSTITUTION:An input part 22 reads purpose data for document formation inputted from an input device 11 and stored the data in a temporary buffer 34. At the end of data input, control is transferred to a request analysis part 25 and the analysis part 25 analyzes the purpose data stored in the buffer 34, extracts key data and stores the key data in a request item storing part 32. An item formation part 26 successively extracts key data from the storing part 32, retrieves the document items corresponding to the key data from an external storage device 13 and stores the retrieved items in the buffer 34. After inputting the data of all the items, a document data display part 29 edits the data inputted to the buffer 34 and displays the edited data on a display device 12 through a display part 23.
