PURPOSE:To analyze an anion with high sensitivity by keeping the electric conductivity of an eluate low, in the chromatographic analysis of the anion in an aqueous solution, by using an aqueous solution containing an amine compound as the eluate. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing an anion is made to flow through a separation column packed with an anion exchange resin. Next, an aqueous solution containing an amine compound is allowed to flow through said column as the eluate of the column to eluate the anion. As the amine compound, ethylenediamine is used. Thereafter, the liquid issued from the separation column is made to flow through a cation exchange column packed with a cation exchange resin substituted with a metal (cooper) ion. Ethylene diamine being the eluate is allowed to pass through said column to form a complex compound from ethylenediamine and the metal ion of the cation exchange resin to convert the anion to a compound having low electric conductivity. Because the background of the eluate is lowered, even an extremely small amount of the anion can be measured with high sensitivity. |
