PURPOSE:To form a latent image having a good quality without contaminating a recording head extending over a long period of time, by constituting the titled device so that a cleaning device wipes a drum prior to a formation of a latent image by the recording head. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning device 6 which has covered the tip of a plate-shaped elastic member 61 with a wiping member 62 is made to slide-contact a magnetic drum 1 by pressure caused by elasticity of the elastic member 61. Before a recording head 2 scans on the magnetic drum 1 and a magnetic latent image is formed, cleaning is executed by wiping the surface of the magnetic drum 1. The cleaning member 62 slide-rubs a recording medium by an elastic force for giving no damage to the recording medium, and eliminates a minute residual adhering developing medium, a fine powder which has scraped the surface of a drum, and dust which has adhered by some reason, etc., which have not been entirely by a conventional cleaning device.
