PURPOSE:To impart water resistance, abrasion resistance, solvent resistance, lustrous property, etc. and favorable light resistance to a color image for a long time, by providing a protective layer on the surface of the color image composed of dyes, the protective layer comprising a specified UV absorber and an absorbance with a specified wavelength distribution. CONSTITUTION:This protective member comprises a protective layer to be laid on and adhered to the surface of a color image composed of dyes. The protective layer comprises a UV absorber having a vapor pressure of not more than 1 X 10-7 Pa at 20 deg.C, and the absorbance of the protective layer has such a distribution that the absorbance is at least 1 across the wavelength range of 300-350 nm and is not more than 0.1 across the wavelength range of 400-800 nm. The UV absorber may be 2-(2-hydroxy-3,2-(2-hydroxy-3,5di(1,1- dimethylbenxyl)phenyl)-2H-benzotriazole or the like. A resin component for forming the protective layer may be ethyl cellulose, a vinyl acetate resin, a derivative thereof or the like. |
