Irrespective of whether a tube tyre is operated with or without excess internal air pressure, it is difficult to attach it to a rim which fits it. According to the prior art, the assembly can only be facilitated by tolerating a less secure seat or a bonding connection between tube tyre and rim. In order to solve the conflict of objectives between simple assembly and secure seating while at least reducing the loading of possible bonding connections, it is proposed to align the strength members in such a way that the internal diameter of the tyre is increased as it is inflated. For assembly purposes, a tyre according to the invention receives such a high air pressure pM that it can easily be pushed over the rim flange and aligned in the base of the rim. The operating air pressure pB is smaller than the assembly air pressure pM, in which case designs are also included where the operating air pressure is equal to the external air pressure. By virtue of the reduced pressure, the tube tyre attempts to reduce its internal diameter and thus achieves a secure seat in the base of the rim. In order to achieve the extension behaviour according to the invention, it is proposed to select the cord angle to be greater than the neutral angle.
