<p>A particle separation apparatus is designed to separate particulate matter on the basis of differing physical properties including sphericity, density and resilience. The particles are fed under the influence of gravity in a thin curtain-like stream onto an inclined impact plate (9) to cause the particles to deflect away therefrom on differing deflection paths as a function of differing physical properties. By means of an adjustable splitter plate (10) the stream of deflected particles is split into collection regions (5, 6). The individual separating cells (1) are modular in nature and may be assembled to form a cascade to achieve various fractions of separated particles according to requirements.</p> |
