PURPOSE:To record picture with high efficiency by reducing an unwritten space produced with a disk-shaped postscript type memory device having the adverse order of pictures to be recorded to a recording/reproducing direction. CONSTITUTION:For an unwritten space produced with a disk-shaped postscript type memory device having the adverse order of pictures to be recorded to the recording/reproducing direction, the remaining capacity of a track to be written in its writing mode is checked and the pictures equivalent to said remaining capacity are transferred by a picture transfer means and written. Then the remaining pictures are written at and after the head of another track preceding by a step, that is, a track TN-1 as long as a writing track TN is defined. In such a way, no unwritten space is produced and also the discordance between an error sector and a substitute sector can be eliminated.
