PURPOSE:To improve the rust resistance of Fe-base powder by heating a mixture of the Fe-base powder with Zn powder of <=250 mesh to a prescribed temp., crushing the heated mixture and uniformly galvanizing the surface of the resulting Fe-base powder to deposit a prescribed amount of Zn. CONSTITUTION:A mixture consisting of 15-50 wt.% Zn powder of <=250 mesh and the balance Fe-base powder is heated to 420-550 deg.C in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. The heated mixture is crushed and the surfaces of the resulting Fe-base metallic particles are galvanized to deposit 15-50 wt.% Zn. Thus, galvanized Fe-base powder having superior rust resistance is obtd.
