PURPOSE:To facilitate the thickness reduction and to easily vary the directivity of an ultrasonic sensor by providing a vibrator selecting means which has plural ultrasonic vibrators for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves arrayed on the same plane of the base and selects optional ultrasonic vibrators to transmit and receive a wave. CONSTITUTION:The vibrator selecting means 3 is provided which has plural ultrasonic vibrators 1(11-16) for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves arrayed on the same plane of the base and select optional vibrators 1 to perform wave transmission and reception, and this selecting means 3 is so constituted that a combination of vibrators 1 at the time of transmission is different from that at the time of reception. Further, the selecting means 3 consists of transmitting circuits A11-A13 and receiving circuits A23 and A24 are a transmitted signal inputted to a transmission terminal Ts is processed by the transmitting circuits A11-A13, A15, and A16 are applied to the vibrators 11-13, 15, and 16. The reception outputs of the vibrators 13 and 14, on the other hand, are inputted to the receiving circuits A23 and A24 which process the reception outputs and the composite signal of the outputs of the receiving circuits A23 and A24 is outputted as a received signal to a reception terminal Tr.
