<p>PURPOSE:To prevent blotting of a dye and, at the same time, to dye fine patterns at a high density, by forming a sticking material layer on a mask surface and pressing the mask against the surface to be dyed. CONSTITUTION:Windows 3 which pass through a base plate made of stainless steel are provided in the base plate by etching and a metal mask 1 is formed. Then a sticking material layer 2 is formed on the metal part only of one surface of the mask 1. The sticking material layer 2 firmly sticks to the surface of the metal mask 1. On the other hand, the surface of the layer 2 has moderate tackiness and elasticity and, when the metal mask 1 is pressed against a glass base plate 5 provided with a dye layer 4 on its surface by means of the layer 2, both the metal mask 1 and glass base plate 5 are firmly stuck to each other without any clearance. Then the joined material is dipped in an aqueous solution of a dye having an appropriate spectral characteristic and the mask pattern is dyed. After washing away the excessively sticking dye with water, the mask 1 is removed from the glass base plate 5 and again pressed against the glass base plate 5 for dyeing by shifting the location of the mask after the water adhering to the mask is removed. By repeating these operations, a prescribed color filter is obtained.</p> |
