PURPOSE:To secure the quantity of oil within a casing upon starting a space heating operation even when a crank case heater is inoperative by operating only one of compressing units for a predetermined period of time when the forming of oil is liable to be generated upon simultaneously starting two compressing units so as to reduce the oil dilution and to suppress the foaming of oil. CONSTITUTION:Upon starting the space heating operation after the stoppage for a long time, in a case where a crankcase heater 12 is inoperative, when an external air temperature T0 detected by an external air temperature sensor 13 is lower than a set temperature T$0, only one compressing unit 1a of a compressor 1 is started, and, at the same time, a switching valve 17 is opened, and the quantity of oil discharged from the compressor is reduced, thus suppressing the foaming of oil and preventing the reduction in the oil quantity within a casing 11 is prevented. Further, a discharged gas is returned to the suction side of the compressor 1 via a bypass passage 16 whereby the effect of preventing the reduction in the oil quantity within the casing 11 is further improved.
