PURPOSE:To control torque in a direction lessening rotational fluctuations as well as to prevent a shock at the time of acceleration and jerky driving from occurring, by detecting an engine being in an accelerated state and, if this accelerated state is the case, controlling ignition timing based on a variation in engine speed and its direction. CONSTITUTION:Only at the time of acceleration, the specified ignition timing control is operated by a control unit 15 as long as the preset time. Control over this ignition timing takes place in the following process that a variation in engine speed to be detected by a crank angle sensor of a distributor 16 is detected by a differential value dN/dt, a compensating quantity is determined by size of dN, and compensation for timing advance and delay is carried out to a map retrieval value for the ignition timing with a sign of the dN/dt. That is to say, when the sign is positive, the compensation value is more retarded than the map retrieval value for the ignition timing, and when it is negative, the compensation value is advanced. Therefore, when the engine speed is low, its torque is increased, but when it goes up, the torque is decreased, thus a variation in the engine speed, namely, a shock at the time of acceleration and jerky driving are all preventable. |
