PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of recognition by using a technical means for preparing a two-group pair system for the identification system of multigroup patterns. CONSTITUTION:The recognition system consists of an input pattern observing means 11, variable selecting means 121-12M, two-group identification means 131-13M, identified result converting means 141-14M, identified result integrating means 151-15M, and a determination means 16. The variable selecting means, the two-group identification means and identified result converting means constitute two-group pair systems, each of which is prepared in every two-group pair. The identified result integrating means are prepared in each group to obtain a group measuring value for each group based on a reference measured value for each group. The determination means executes the final determination from all the group measuring values and outputs a required group sort.
