PURPOSE:To save format information on all tracks of a magnetic disk medium without using a secondary medium by writing said format information read out of the disk medium into a specific area of said disk medium. CONSTITUTION:This saving system consists of a central processing unit 1 which performs the control of programs, a program store memory 2, a console 3 which controls the interface between an operator and programs, and a magnetic disk device 4. If a reformat process is designated as an execution mode when a program is started, the format information on all tracks written into a specific area of the same magnetic disk medium are read out. Based on these track format information, the tracks destructed by some reason on the same magnetic disk medium are reformed to complete a program.
