PURPOSE:To reduce a coil placing area on a carriage, and to miniaturize a head actuator, by bending and erecting a part that does not contribute to the generation of a driving force for a carriage in a flat coil. CONSTITUTION:A flat coil 4a is formed in a cross-sectional U-shape by bending and standing both two non-driving force generating parts 4a-1. Meanwhile, a carriage 3a is fitted for the shape for the coil 4a formed in a U-shape, and both end parts are confronted with the bending part of the coil. In a word, a shape is formed so as to correspond to a carriage form in which a width is reduced, by cutting the both end parts of a conventional carriage by an area equivalent to the bending part of the coil. In such way, the width measure of the head actuator can be reduced comparing with the conventional one, and a miniaturized and light structure can be obtained.
