PURPOSE:To automatically set the number of a terminal equipment by continuously connecting plural terminal equipment through a highway and a numbering signal line and incrementing the number of each terminal equipment with '1' and transmitting the incremented number to the numbering signal line. CONSTITUTION:The terminal equipments 1-1-1-n are provided with a circuit 3 incrementing with '1', and continuously connected by the numbering signal line 4 through the circuit 3. The number that the circuit 3 increments with '1' is set as the number of the terminal equipment. Since the number that the circuit 3 increments with '1' is transferred to the next terminal equipment according to the order of connecting the equipments 1-1-1-n, the numbers of the next and subsequent terminal equipments are automatically set after the number of the 1st terminal equipment is decided. Consequently, only by cascade connecting the terminal equipment, numbers their numbers are automatically set.
