PURPOSE:To obtain a high density image excellent in gradation, by containing a heat-meltable ink component based on a specific heat-meltable substance solid at ambient temp. and a colorant in the microporous structure comprising a resin formed on a support. CONSTITUTION:A transfer recording medium has a reticulated structure comprising a microporous resin structure holding a heat-meltable substance and a colorant. The colorant is melted by heating due to a thermal head and exuded from the reticulated structure of the microporous resin structure to ooze onto a receiving sheet little by little. At this time, if lanolin derivative wax and/or montan wax is used as the heat-meltable substance, the quantity of the colorant exuded is changed by the quantity of heat energy applied by the thermal head. By controlling said applied heat energy, the quantity of the colorant to be transferred can be changed and a fine sharp image expressing gradation faithfully and widely can be obtained. |
