PURPOSE:To instantaneously reproduce a picture recorded track by shifting a magnetic head recorded to a prescribed track by a picture recording command, to a next track and controlling so as to return and stand by the share of one track with a picture recording mode releasing command. CONSTITUTION:At the time of a picture recording standby mode, it is checked whether a flag is '1' or not, one frame picture recording, a picture recording review or a quick photographing processing is executed, then, a magnetic head 51 is sent for the share of one track in the normal direction and the flag is set. When the flag is '1', the head 51 is shifted by track-pitch in the reverse direction. The processing is executed by sending the shift pulse in the reverse direction to the step motor of a head shifting device 57 from a control device 50, thereafter, a stopping mode is set and the flag is reset to '0'. Thus, when the reproducing mode is set continuously after releasing the picture recording mode, the video signal of the picture recorded track can be immediately reproduced.
