<p>CONVEYANCE FOR SUPPORTING AND FOR TRANSPORTING A HANDICAPPED PERSON, IN A STANDING MODE A wheeled conveyance for securing, supporting, and for transporting a handicapped person-operator in a standing mode. The device is fashioned for use by persons who are physically incapable of effecting normal locomotion and who are unable to stand unassisted. A particular feature of the invention is that it provides vertically-spaced, multiplepoint body supporting and restraining elements which brace and retain one's body in a generally upright but slightly forwardly pitched attitude to establish a forwardly displaced center of gravity. The posture established frees the user's arms for drivingly rotating the wheels of the conveyance to achieve controlled propelled travel along a selectable path, thereby affording the user a degree of mobility and independence not otherwise achievable.</p> |
