PURPOSE:To prevent steep shift-down or the like by transferring to the low- speed stage based on the judgment result of the transfer condition in conjunction with the output signal resulting from the operation of a selector switch transferring a sub-transmission and a drive force distributing mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A four-wheel drive vehicle is provided with a main transmission, a sub-transmission containing an L-H transfer valve 6 transferring its output to a high-speed stage and a low-speed stage, and a drive force distributing mechanism containing a drive force distribution transfer valve 11 transferring the drive force distribution factor to front wheels and rear wheels. The sub- transmission and the drive force distributing mechanism are transferred by a microcomputer 2 based on the output signal from a selector switch 1. In this case, if the signal is outputted by selecting the low-speed stage of the sub- transmission and the decrease of the distribution factor difference between the drive forces to the front and rear wheels by the drive force distributing mechanism when each driving state is set by the selection switch 1, the transfer to the low-speed stage is prohibited until the preset condition is satisfied.
