Detonator-firing element which comprises a miniaturized energy-discharge arrangement 12; 102; 104; 225 positioned on a substrate 10 which forms part of an integrated electronic circuit. An explosive charge or pyrotechnic mixture 60; 222 is exposed to the effects of the energy discharge which is performed by the arrangement. The arrangement can be resistance-based, be formed by a semi- conductor or be a field effect arrangement. The integrated circuit comprises timing, test, control, communication and interlocking circuits so as to make possible individual or computer-controlled detonation systems. Protection 30; 14 against overvoltages and induced currents are provided. By using integrated circuits, power consumption is kept to a minimum and a detonator which comprises the firing element can be supplied with power for a considerable period of time by an energy storage arrangement, such as a capacitor 84. |
