PURPOSE:To aim at improvement in the efficiency of inhalation in a Diesel engine with a minimum of water consumption required by partitioning its combustion chamber with ceramics, and then projecting cooling water in such a manner that it is directed to the internal surface of the combustion chamber, with which the intake air flow, flowing in from an inlet, collides. CONSTITUTION:The combustion chamber 7 of a Diesel engine is partitioned with ceramic parts, such as cylinder liner 2, head liner 4 and piston crown 5b. In the combustion chamber 7 is provided a water injection nozzle 17 in such a manner that it is directed to the internal wall 7a of the combustion chamber 7 so that cooling water W is injected to the surface of the wall 7a. The water injection nozzle 17 is mounted on a cylinder head 3 or the head liner 4 so as to be supported, and placed in such a manner that it is directed to the portion A of the internal surface of the combustion chamber 7, with which the intake air flow S, flowing in from an inlet 13, collides. |
