PRODUCTION OF ELECTROCHROMIC DISPLAY ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of crosstalks by a simple method by laminating a polymer film which permits the introduction of an ion exchange group therein so as to cover an EC film and counter electrode and introducing the ion exchange group into the polymer film positioned in a cell part. CONSTITUTION:A transparent conductive film 2 is formed on a substrate 1 and after a photoresist 3 is coated over the entire surface, the resist is subjected to exposure and development to form the photoresist 3 in the spacing parts of the conductive film 2. The EC film 4 is formed on the conductive film 2 and the resist 3 is removed. The polymer film 5 which permits the introduction of the ion exchange group therein is laminated so as to cover the EC film 4 (or counter electrode). A mask 6 of approximately the same shape as the shape of the EC film 4 is formed on the film 5 and the ion exchange group is introduced through the aperture of the film 6 to form an ion exchange film 7. The counter electrode 8 is then formed and a substrate 1' is adhered thereon by an adhesive material 9, by which the ECD element is obtd.
