PURPOSE:To easily construct the titled device and to remarkably reduce the cost of an optical communication system by forming a bent part with an optional radius of curvature on an optical fiber, connecting a coupling waveguide expanded in the connecting direction of the bent part integrally with the optical fiber and making a 2nd signal light vertically incident on the incident end face of the coupling waveguide. CONSTITUTION:The outer peripheries of bodies 17a, 17b are coated with metallic films to form the border between the coupling waveguide 21 and the outside as a fully reflecting surface 25 and the terminal parts of the bodies 17a, 17b are formed like tapers thinning their tips, so that the transmission loss of the 2nd signal light 23 transmitted through the waveguide 21 is suppressed at its minimum and the injection efficiency of the 2nd signal light 23 into the core part 14 of the optical fiber 16 is improved. The 2nd signal light 23 obtained from an E/O converter 24 is entered the optical fiber 16 at the terminal part of the waveguide 21, a part of the light 23 is led into the core part 14 and added to the 1st signal light 13 and the added light is transmitted through the optical fiber 16. |
