PURPOSE:To allow a user to easily add another complicated sequence control through the use of a high level language, besides a standard sequence control, by providing a general-purpose programmable controller (PC). CONSTITUTION:A machine tool 12 is connected not only to a programmable machine controller PMC 13 but to the general-purpose PC 14. According to a sequence program written in a radder language or a pascal language, the PMC 13 executes the prescribed sequence control corresponding to M-, S- and T-functional instructions from an NC 11 and digital signals such as a contact point signal from the machine tool 12. The general-purpose PC 14 is able to program in a high level language. Since the PC 14 has data exchange terminal such as RS232C and I/O control (DI/DO) terminals 14a and 14b, it receives the digital signal through a data exchange control part 15, executes the prescribed processing and informs the PMC 13 of the effect.
