The described apparatus comprises an assembly which can be lowered, on a tube linkage (30, 31), into the well pit and has two carrier plates (3, 4) which are fastened on a central tube (1) and in which a plurality of brush rolls (5) are rotatably mounted. The brush rolls (5) can be driven by compressed-air motors (18) which are likewise fastened on the central tube (1) and are connected to supply-air and discharge-air lines (23, 24) and, via separate channels (31) of the tube linkage, are in connection with a compressed-air source, above ground. When a well pipe is cleaned, the brush rolls (5) are driven, at the same time the apparatus being rotated and raised or lowered via the tube linkage (30, 31). Furthermore, by blowing compressed air into the central tube (30) connected to the suction tube (1), the well water which has been soiled by the brushing-off procedure is extracted by the air lifting process. <IMAGE>
