The subject of the application is an electric tool with a working spindle which is mounted and guided in a housing and has a receptacle for insertion tools, such as screwdriver bits, with a clamping device. This clamping device has an actuating member, such as a union nut, which is rotatable about the spindle axis. The spindle is inwardly displaceable axially against the force of a spring and, at its inner end, has coupling elements which engage, only in the pushed-in end position, in counter-elements of a drive shaft. In the case of such an electric tool the intention is now to achieve the effect that, for the actuation of the clamping device, the working spindle is automatically secured against rotation. To this end, a locking device, operative only in the pushed-out end position of the spindle and preventing the rotation of the spindle, is arranged on the working spindle and the housing.
