PURPOSE:To produce the title fine graphite powder having good dispersibility and without being agglomerated by wetting the surface of fine graphite powder with a specified liq., adding liquefied gaseous carbon dioxide to the powder, and then gasifying the liquefied gaseous carbon dioxide. CONSTITUTION:Graphite, for example, is precrushed (in the atmosphere as well) to about 10mu, and then the surface of the fine powder having >=500m<2>/g specific surface and obtained by pulverizing the graphite by a rolling ball mill in an inert atmosphere is wetted with a liq. (e.g., isoamyl acetate) soluble in liquefied gaseous carbon dioxide and having affinity for graphite. Liquefied gaseous carbon dioxide is then added to the powder, and the liquefied gaseous carbon dioxide is subsequently gasified under the temp. and pressure conditions exceeding the critical point of gaseous carbon dioxide. Consequently, fine graphite powder having good dispersibility and without being agglomerated can be obtained. The effect can be remarkably enhanced, especially when the powder is used in a slurry. The slurry can be effectively utilized as an electrically conductive coating agent, an industrial lubricant, an antistatic agent, etc. |
