<p>PURPOSE:To improve the uniformity of orientation and to shorten time required for the orientation by sealing ferroelectric liquid crystal between a pair of bases and then impressing a DC voltage between the bases. CONSTITUTION:A pair of bases 1 on which transparent electrodes 2 and orientation films 3 are successively formed are opposed through a spacer 4 and the ferroelectric liquid crystal 5 is sealed between the bases 1. After sealing the liquid crystal 5, DV voltage is impressed between the bases 1. Consequently, a uniform orientation state can be formed by impressing the DC voltage and the time required for the orientation can be also shortened.</p> |
