PURPOSE:The titled composition, containing an algal hydrolyzate and tryptophan as active ingredients, capable of activating physiology of various agricultural and horticultural crops by application thereto and promoting growth, coloring of fruits, increase in sugar content and quality, thickening of root parts, etc., and contriving yield and profit increase. CONSTITUTION:A composition containing an algal hydrolyzate of a limnetic algae, e.g. green alga belonging to the order Chlorococcales or Ulvales, brown alga belonging to the order Fucales or Laminariales, etc., or seaweed and tryptophan as active ingredients. The blending ratio is 0.001-0.5wt% solid concentration of the above-mentioned hydrolyzate and about 100-500ppm tryptophan. The above-mentioned active ingredients are used as a liquid or powdery concentrated type composition used by suitably diluting with water, etc., in use. The above-mentioned algal hydrolyzate is obtained by adding a 1-3wt% aqueous solution of an alkali, e.g. Na2CO3, etc., to, e.g. a raw material alga which is washed with water, dried and pulverized, hydrolyzing the alga at 100-200 deg.C under 2-5kg/cm<2> pressure for 4-8hr, centrifuging the hydrolyzate and filtering the centrifugate through a drum filter. |
