A capsule-type medical system consists of an encapsulated in-body unit having a radio transmission device and an out-of-body device. The out-of-body device includes a radio reception device connected to a plurality of antennas, a switching device for switching between the plurality of antennas, and a monitor device for monitoring the reception state at the antenna selected. The monitor device includes a device for measuring data amount of unit medical data transmitted from the in-body unit, a device for measuring the time required for transmission of the unit medical data from the in-body unit, and calculation device means for calculating the data transmission speed from the data amount and the time required for transmission.
