PURPOSE:To stably treat high-concentration. raw water at high velocity at horizontally extending perforated plates to the upper part and the lower part in a tank and compacting a sponge between the perforated plates respectively providing an inflow port of raw water to one hand of the outside of the perforated plate and an outflow port of treated water to the other hand thereof and providing a countercurrent washing mechanism in the tank. CONSTITUTION:Raw water is led in a tank 1 through an inflow pipe 6 and passed through the compact packed layers of sponges 4, 5. SS incorporated in raw water is trapped by the sponges 4, 5 and raw water is clarified into treated water which is introduced into a catchment chamber 8 and stored in a treated water tank 11 via a pipeline 10 of treated water through an outflow port 9 thereof. When filter pit increases, countercurrent washing is performed. Firstly a water washing pump 12 is operated and if necessary, an air washing blower 15 is simultaneously operated to perform the simultaneous washing by water and air for 3 minutes and then the air blower is stopped and washing only by water is performed for 1 minute. Drainage of countercurrent washing is discharged to the outside of the system via a drainage pipe 13 through an exhaust port 14.
