In a collet vice, a gripping sleeve (6) is moved from the open position into the closed position by means of a piston (12). In order to reliably open the collet (10) by positive resetting of the gripping sleeve (6), compressed-air chambers (18, 19) are provided on both sides of the piston (12). Clamping bodies (13) put the gripping sleeve (6) into the closed position. During a piston movement in the direction of the open position, a vacuum develops in a vacuum chamber (20). The vacuum pulls the gripping sleeve (6) into the open position. The highly loaded clamping bodies are lubricated during gripping. <IMAGE>
