The machine includes a fixed guide 3 which longitudinally defines two work tops P1 and P2, first and second work tops, the said work tops supporting and guiding the edges 30a and 40a of leather articles 30 and 40 to be sewn together. Beside the first work top there are a feed dog 15 and a curved needle 14; beside the second work top there are a pressure foot 16 and a crochet hook 19 with a bobbin of thread 20. As it moves, the needle pierces the edge 30a located on the first work top, passes through a slot 11 in guide 3, pierces the other edge 40a, which is being pressed onto the second work top by the aforementioned pressure foot, and, finally, operates in combination with crochet hook 19. The needle-pressure foot assembly serves to intermittently feed the two edges of the leather articles. The feed dog, acting in combination with a second pressure foot 22, located downstream of the aforementioned assembly, crimps the edge 30a situated on the first work top P1. |
