An inductively heated apparatus such as a plastics extruder comprising a solid housing (2) which has a feed-through opening (3) for the substance to be heated and which is magnetically coupled to at least one laminated iron core (9, 10) carrying a coil (11, 12). In order to be able to produce such apparatus in a particularly simple and economical fashion, and to permit a higher level of thermal load carrying capacity, the coil is wound from strip or flat or foil material (34).
