PURPOSE:To allow the actual vehicle speed to quickly match the memory vehicle speed by making the control constant for the vehicle speed automatic control different at the time immediately after the operation of a set switch and during the cruise when the set signal is not changed. CONSTITUTION:When the vehicle speed automatic control is performed based on the memory vehicle speed, different control constants are set by a setting means 4 at the time immediately after the off operation of a set switch 2 and during the cruise. That is, from the time immediately after the off operation of the set switch 2 until a fixed time elapses, the set switch 2 is set to the control constant different from that during the cruise. A control means 7 controls an actuator 6 with this control constant set by the setting means 4, and the vehicle is transferred to the cruise state in response to the off operation of the set switch 2. At the time of the transition to the cruise state, the under- shoot or over-shoot condition is converged, thus allowing the actual vehicle speed to quickly match the memory vehicle speed. |
