PURPOSE:To loosen the accuracy of head fitting to a head driving mechanism by fitting two pairs of monitor heads and preceding reading heads to bimorph plates and switching these heads in accordance with necessity. CONSTITUTION:Two pairs of monitor heads and preceding reading heads 6a, 8a and 6b, 8b are fitted to a rotary drum 3 through respective bimorph plates 7, 9. Since these heads 6a, 6b and 8a, 8b are switched and used when necessary and just tracking control of double-recorded tracks on a magnetic tape is executed, excellent tracking can be attained even at the time of high recording density without executing the highly accurate positioning of the monitor heads and the preceding reading heads.
