An electrode plate (3,5) for an electric storage battery including a lug (13,15) for electrically coupling the plate (3,5) to other plates in the battery and an individual insulating collar (17) tightly engaging a root of each plate lug (13,15). In a stack of plates, the individual collars (17) abut one another so as to separate the lugs (13,15) from each other and may serve to form a mould (31) for shaping a plate strap cast thereon.
