摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an EC element having a large density change without the exfoliation of an iridium oxide film by forming said film as an oxidation coloring layer by a specific anodic oxidation method. CONSTITUTION:The anodic oxidation of the metallic iridium film is executed by continuously impressing sweep potential first at a small amplitude then at a large amplitude at the time of sweeping the triangular wave potential to a glass cell to form the iridium oxide film 1 to be used as the oxidation coloring layer of the EC element. The magnitude of the amplitude of the sweep potential varies with the number of sweeping times as the small amplitude to be impressed first and is usually preferably -0.6-1.5V, more preferably -0.15-1.15V sweep potential width. The range except said range is the cause for the exfoliation of the film. The sweep potential width of the AC potential of the large amplitude to be impressed thereafter varies with the number of sweeping times and is preferably -1.5-2.0V, more preferably -1.0-1.5V. The exfoliation arises in ranges except said range.
