PURPOSE:To manufacture a weatherstrip at a low cost by vulcanizing and foam treating a corner piece together with a strip base after inserting the corner piece from a pipe inserted through a die of an extrusion molding machine into a seal pipe of weatherstrip base. CONSTITUTION:A weatherstrip base 6 is sent to a vulcanizing tank 15 adjoining to a coextrusion molding machine 11 and heat treated. In said tank, unvulcanized ethylene - propylene - diene terpolymerized rubber (EPDM) is vulcanized, and at the same time foaming agent is foamed to turn a seal pipe 2 and a corner piece 1 into sponge-shaped EPDM foaming materials and a trim section 3, a seal lip 4 and a drain lip 5 into solid EPDM's. The weatherstrip base 6 heat-treated by the vulcanizing tank 15 is then sent to a secondary processing unit 16. Then, after the trimming section 3 is folded and formed into a specified shape, said base is cut in specified lengths by a cutter 17. By said process, molding the main body and inserting the corner piece 1 are carried out simultaneously to reduce man-hour. |
