PURPOSE:To attain accurate positioning even with a positioning means with temperature dependance by controlling a data head according to the position deviation with respect to the operating temperature stored in advance and the operating temperature in positioning the data head. CONSTITUTION:The temperature position deviation of a data head with repect to the measured operating temperature is stored in a temperature position deviation storage circuit 4 at each head and each cylinder. A temperature detection conversion circuit 1 detects the temperature of a prescribed part of the device, converts it into a digital signal and inputs it to an operation circuit 5. The circuit 4 outputs the stored temperature position deviation to the operation circuit 5 from the device temperature, the cylinder position from registers 2, 3 and the head position. The circuit 5 calculates the temperature change, the position deviation, the cylinder position and the head position to obtain a position deviation correction value and outputs an offset signal 6 to a positioning control means. The control means uses the signal 6 to control the data head thereby applying accurate positioning.
