PURPOSE:To calculate three-dimensional coordinates without giving a heavy burden on a measurer by forming images of low magnification and high magnification from a couple of stereo-photographs and determining responding points corresponding to a set point for the respective images. CONSTITUTION:The three-dimensional coordinates X, Y and Z are calculated by X=I'B/(I'-K'm), Y=J'B/(1'-K'm), Z=fB/(I'-K'm) when the projected center of variable power optical parts is chosen as the origin from the relation among the stereo-photographs 1a and 1b, the set point (I, J) and the optimum corresponding point (Km, Lm) wherein I' and J', f and B are the coordinates of the set points in a coordinate system with an optical axis O1 as the origin, the distance from the variable power optical parts 3a and 3b to the stereo- photographs 1a and 1b, and the distance between the optical axes of the variable power optical parts respectively. The three-dimensional coordinates calculated by the above-mentioned formula are the model coordinates in the titled instrument and can be made to the three-dimensional coordinates of objects of the stereo-photographs 1a and 1b by multiplying the photographing magnification and taking the origin properly.
