PURPOSE:To accelerate the positioning of the movable coil of a coil movable type linear DC motor and to enhance the accuracy of the positioning by dividing the movable coil into high speed moving and finely positioning coils. CONSTITUTION:An output deviation (e) between a target value generator 15 and a position detector 16 is obtained by a deviation signal generator 14, and stabilized by a control circuit 13. When the deviation (e) is larger than a certain set value, a switching circuit 12 supplies a signal to a high speed moving 3-phase coil switching circuit 8. The switching circuit 8 supplies a current to coils 51a-51c in response to the output of a field sensor 6. When the deviation (e) becomes smaller than the certain set value, the switching circuit 12 supplies a signal to a finely positioning 3-phase coil switching circuit 10 to supply a current to finely positioning coils 52a-52c.
