PURPOSE:To correctly display the consumption of fuel, by a method wherein the resistance value of a liquid level detector when a full tank sensor detects a full tank state is compared with a reference resistance value to correct the output signal of a display part and an indicator is moved to an E-side immediately after a liquid level is lowered. CONSTITUTION:When fuel is injected in a fuel tank 1 so as to reach a full tank state, the position of a float 7 and the resistance value of a liquid level detector 6 corresponding thereto also become irregular with the irregularity of a liquid level. Then, the resistance value of the detector 6 when a full tank sensor 13 detects a full tank state is compared with the reference resistance value corresponding to the F-position of the indicator of a display part 12 to correct the output signal to the display part 12 corresponding to the difference between both values and the signal corresponding to the reference resistance value is always outputted. The output signal based on the reference value of the detector 6 changes from the value corresponding to the reference resistance value position at the time of a full tank corresponding to the lowering in the liquid level and the float 7. Therefore, the indicator of the display part 12 always shows the F-position at the time of full tank injection and immediately moves to an E-side with the lowering in the liquid level.
